Game Overview
Luna Abyss is a story-driven first-person action-adventure that blends fluid platforming with intense bullet-hell combat. You play as Fawkes, a prisoner sentenced by the Wolf Court to explore a derelict megastructure beneath the mimic moon Luna — overseen at all times by your AI warden, Aylin.
Recover forgotten technology from the Abyss, face corrupted souls and cosmic horrors, and piece together the fate of Greymont, the once-prosperous colony consumed by the Scourge. Sprint, dash, and double-jump through brutalist alien ruins while surviving waves of projectiles in arena-style encounters.
Available on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass. Full voice acting is English-only; UI and subtitles support 11 languages.
- Four distinct weapons with missable upgrades
- 87 Codex recordings across Memory, Characters, Monsters, and Locations
- 15 Drift Crystals and Urien's Gifts for completionists
- 45 Steam achievements including 31 hidden story objectives
- Six story chapters plus prologue with major boss encounters
Quick Start — First 30 Minutes
Your first hour sets the tone for the entire campaign. Focus on movement fundamentals and do not rush past optional paths — several weapon upgrades and health boosts are easy to miss if you only follow the objective marker.
Dash
Your primary survival tool in bullet-hell arenas. Use it to dodge orb waves and reposition between cover.
Double Jump
Unlocked in Chapter 2. Essential for reaching ledges with recordings and crossing gaps during boss fights.
Lock-On / Auto-Aim
Works exceptionally well against dense enemy swarms. Keep moving while locked on — standing still is lethal.
Drift Kill (Melee Finishers)
Press F on staggered enemies to execute them and restore health. Critical during long boss encounters.
Observer Possession
After obtaining the Goliath Neural Pattern, press E to tether to Observers and traverse vertical spaces.
Common Mistakes
- Following only the objective marker — side paths hide weapon upgrades and health boosts
- Overheating the Shieldbreaker — it cools down much slower than the Scout Rifle
- Ignoring red Drift Crystals — destroying them unlocks achievement chains worth 1,000 Gamerscore
- Skipping Codex recordings near pipes and ledges — many are off the main route
- Forgetting melee finishers when adds spawn during boss fights — they are your primary healing source
Combat System
Luna Abyss combat rewards constant motion. Encounters escalate from small skirmishes to full bullet-hell arenas where projectiles fill the screen. Learn enemy tells, manage weapon heat, and swap tools based on shield types.
Bullet-Hell Movement
Circle-strafe during orb waves. When projectiles fly low, double-jump over them. Dash through gaps in patterns rather than through the center of bullet clusters.
Blue Barriers
Only the Shieldbreaker can destroy blue energy barriers. Switch before entering shielded rooms. Overheating the Shieldbreaker leaves you vulnerable — burst fire instead of holding trigger.
Purple Shields
Enemy purple shields require the Monarch's Lance. The lance pierces multiple targets — line up enemies for efficient damage.
Hard Combat Arenas
Some rooms force use of all four weapons. The "Weapon Master" achievement requires using Scout Rifle, Shieldbreaker, Monarch's Lance, and Atom Splitter in a single Hard Combat.
Healing in Combat
Healing crystals restore fixed health. Drift Kill finishers on staggered enemies provide mid-fight recovery. Blessed Bloodbones have shields — break with Shieldbreaker first.
Shield Wall (Q)
Creates a temporary barrier against projectiles. Essential in open arenas with limited cover. Unlocked mid-campaign in Chapter 2.
Weapons & Upgrades
Four weapons define your arsenal. Each has a story unlock and a missable upgrade found off the main path. Collect all four upgrades before the final chapters for the smoothest experience.
Scout Rifle
Role
Fast, accurate all-rounder. Reliable against standard Adrift enemies throughout the campaign.
Upgrade
Improved damage and accuracy for sustained fire.
Location
Chapter 1 — side path off the main upgrade route before the reactor section. Check alcoves left of the objective marker.
Shieldbreaker
Role
Close-range explosive weapon. Destroys blue barriers and breaks enemy shields.
Upgrade
Enhanced blast radius and damage against shielded foes.
Location
Chapter 1 — workshop area near the first Shieldbreaker pickup. Explore left passages before proceeding.
Monarch's Lance
Role
Precision piercing weapon. Breaks purple shields and damages multiple enemies in a line.
Upgrade
Stronger pierce and focused damage for elite targets.
Location
Chapter 2 — accessible via platforming section after double jump unlock. Look for ledges with glowing symbols.
Atom Splitter
Role
Heavy explosive launcher. Best for groups, large enemies, and destructible generators in boss fights.
Upgrade
Increased blast yield for crowd control.
Location
Chapter 4–5 — hidden in a side chamber requiring Tether Hook or Observer traversal. Backtrack after obtaining hook.
Abilities & Progression
Story abilities unlock sequentially and gate both combat options and collectible access. Prioritize upgrades that improve exploration before tackling 100% completion.
Drift Kill
PriorityExecute staggered enemies (F) to heal. Core combat sustain mechanic.
Goliath Neural Pattern
PriorityPossess Goliath Wardens to break doors and reach new areas.
Double Jump
PriorityUnlocks vertical exploration in Chapter 2. Required for multiple recordings.
Shield Wall
Deployable cover (Q) against projectiles. Critical for bullet-hell arenas.
Tether Hook
Grapple to points and stay airborne. "Swingin' Around" achievement requires 30 seconds airborne.
Widowmaker Neural Pattern
Possess Widowmaker Wardens for advanced traversal puzzles.
Dash Recovery
PriorityUpgrade — reduces dash cooldown. High priority for Hard Combats and bosses.
Scout Visor Ping
PriorityUpgrade — highlights nearby collectibles. Essential for 100% runs.
Connection Health (10 Upgrades)
Connection Health upgrades increase your maximum HP. Ten are hidden throughout the campaign in optional rooms, behind barriers, and down side pipes. Achievements "That Feels Better" and "Max Power" track first and max upgrades.
